We've added a couple New Boer Bucks to our herd! See our buck page to check them out!!
My husband and I purchased our first saanens after the birth of our first son in our quest to provide wholesome milk for our son without any of the additives or hormones that is present in some store bought milk. I had shown saanens in 4-H many years ago and knew them to be highly productive in milk while possessing a calm and loving personality that my boys could be around. My husband, whom had never tasted goat milk, loved it from the start and our now two boys are growing up strong and healthy on it. We have found goat cheese and yogurt to be very tasty and there's nothing that compares to creamy goat butter.
We discovered the boer breed when we crossed one of our dairy does to a boer buck. It was amazing to see how fast those stocky kids put on weight. They reminded me of the angus cattle I grew up around but on a smaller more manageable animal. We were appreciative that we could provide unprocessed meat for our family that we knew what went into it and the fact that goat meat is more healthy was a huge bonus. When we bought our first purebred red bottle baby boer, it was official, we were in love with the boer breed. They possess a laid back personality that our boys love but are a very versatile animal for meat, milk and show.
As our boys were getting older, we decided to show our animals. It was such a fun atmosphere of challenges, learning and camaraderie that we were hooked. Therefore, we decided to change up our herd a bit by keeping those values that started us in goats in the first place but also breeding for animals that will do well in the show ring. Using Artificial Insemination and adding quality animals to our herd has given us the ability to offer quality breeding and show stock.
Thank you for visiting our site. Take a look at what we have and feel free to contact us just to chat or for any questions you may have. We test our goats yearly and guarantee them to be CAE, CL, Johnes, and Q-Fever negative.
